Neža Hajšek & Blažka Šifrar / "Musical Chairs"
Neža Hajšek & Blažka Šifrar (b. 2003, Ptuj, Slovenia & b. 2003, Ljubljana, Slovenia, respectively) form a dynamic artistic duo. Currently pursuing studies in Visual Arts and Design at the University of Primorska, their collaborative practice utilizes performance and video to explore the complexities of politics, gender, and feminism. Their works, often characterized by unsettling imagery and disorienting soundscapes, challenge viewers to confront uncomfortable truths. In "Musical Chairs," a video work that critically examines the notion of "pink quotas," they question whether women in leadership roles are truly recognized for their qualifications or merely fulfill a mandated presence. The symbolic imagery of the traditional game, interwoven with the mundane act of potato peeling, evokes the persistent struggle for gender equality and the enduring weight of societal expectations.
