Making It is an international workshop which offers an exploration of contemporary artistry tailored for emerging talents.

Through meticulously curated hands-on experiences, collaborative endeavors, and mentorship from industry experts, participants will immerse themselves in a realm of artistic refinement and innovation.

From mastering diverse mediums to pioneering avant-garde techniques, participants will elevate their craft under the seasoned guidance of JAŠA, pushing the boundaries of traditional artistry while cultivating a keen understanding of the artistic process.

This workshop serves as a nexus for artistic enlightenment, where participants delve into the nuanced interplay of personal identity, societal consciousness, and cultural evolution. Jaša's visionary leadership fosters an environment of intellectual rigor and creative exploration, empowering participants to harness art's transformative potential.

By fostering connections with peers and thought leaders, participants cultivate invaluable networks that extend far beyond the confines of the studio. With each stroke of the brush and daring experiment, participants emerge poised to navigate the complex landscape of contemporary art with confidence and aplomb, prepared to make indelible contributions to the global artistic discourse.

The backbone of the workshop is the use of art as a path to profound engagement with ourselves, the world around us and its various social issues. Participants will explore their creativity and develop their skills in a dynamic, collaborative and supportive environment. Through hands-on experience, veteran mentoring, and networking opportunities, Making It offers an immersive and enriching experience that aims to inspire and empower young people in their future career development.

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is primarily for art students, aspiring artists and young creatives at the beginning of their career paths. That said, the application is open for anyone between the ages 20-30 who have a high interest in artistic expression, who work in cultural fields, and who are driven by a profound wish to experience art as a form of personal growth and an instrument to broaden awareness. 

When?

The project takes off at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts on the 22nd of April, during the famous Venice Biennale, with a live presentation of the program. 


The workshop starts with an intense one-week training in the coastal town of Koper between June 23rd and 30th, 2024.

It continues with online sessions up until the grand finale in the bustling city of Berlin between November 4th and 10th, where the participants will present their work to the audience in the 1700 square meter exhibition space of Kühlhaus Berlin.

The workshop concludes with a virtual exhibition of the participants' works, displayed on the Making It website.


What do we cover?


"Making It Training", June 23-30, 2024, Koper, Slovenia

  • Accommodation: Shared rooms (2-3 participants per room)

  • Travel support: up to 150 EUR per participant

  • Welcome food, coffee breaks, and basic groceries provided at the accommodation

"Making It Final Group Exhibition/Event: All Tomorrow's Songs", Berlin, November 4-10, 2024

  • Production support: 150 EUR per participant

  • Additional support for non-Berlin residents: up to 200 EUR for transport/accommodation

Participants are responsible for arranging their own health insurance coverage for the project duration.
