Rac Montoro / "Euphoria" / “Further further further down”
Rac Montoro / "Euphoria" / “Further further further down” (b. 1992, Naples, Italy) is a performer and multimedia artist. He holds a degree in New Art Technologies from the Academy of Arts in Naples and is currently pursuing studies in Decoration at the Academy of Arts in Turin. Rac's artistic practice revolves around the concept of identity, employing unconventional tools such as lies, mathematical operations, astrology, tarot, gossip, and crime news. Astrology, in particular, serves as a fluid framework for constructing identity, transcending traditional notions of gender and sexuality. The project "Euphoria" draws inspiration from a poignant family anecdote: his mother's uncle, adorned in a Pierrot costume during a carnival celebration, tragically takes his own life. The performance explores the inherent androgyny of masks like Pulcinella, a character often associated with both male and female attributes. The second act of the performance, an "anti-party" featuring queer music, delves into the simultaneous discomfort and liberation experienced by the queer body on the dance floor.
